Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

S English collects only the data needed to deliver the language-learning service. Account information includes your name, email address, and a unique user ID created when you sign up. If you sign in with Apple's email-relay (@privaterelay.appleid.com), we receive only the relay address — never your personal Apple email — and we honor that relay for all service communications. Voice recordings: when you use shadowing or speaking practice, the audio you record is sent to our speech-to-text pipeline so we can score your pronunciation; recordings are processed and discarded within 30 days, are not used for advertising, and are never sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes. Lesson and progress data — which lessons you complete, your streak, and your saved vocabulary — power the in-app progress views. Subscription metadata (your Apple ID, transaction ID, plan, renewal status) is reconciled through RevenueCat as our App Store sub-processor; we do not see your payment card. Device and diagnostic data (app version, OS version, crash logs) are collected only to investigate problems.

2. Authentication and Sign-In

S English supports several sign-in methods. Each shares a different minimal set of data with us:

  • Sign in with Apple — Apple shares a stable user identifier and either your real email or a private relay email. Only the email format you choose is shared; your Apple ID is never disclosed to us.
  • Sign in with Google — Google shares your name, profile email, and avatar URL after you consent on Google's screen. We do not request additional Google scopes.
  • Email and password — when offered, you provide your email directly and we store a salted hash of your password (never the plaintext).
  • On all methods we create the same account record so your progress, vocabulary, and subscription follow you across sign-in changes.
  • We never post to social profiles, never read contacts, and never request friend lists.

3. Subscriptions and Subprocessors

When you purchase a Sila Pro subscription inside the iOS app, the data flow involves:

  • Apple Inc. — processes the payment, holds the receipt, and notifies us of subscription state changes. We never see your payment card.
  • RevenueCat, Inc. — our sub-processor for normalizing App Store receipts. Receives your account user ID, transaction ID, plan, and renewal status; bound by a Data Processing Agreement.
  • Our application servers — store the resulting Pro entitlement against your account so the app can unlock features.
  • We do not share subscription data with advertisers or analytics providers.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Operate the service and authenticate your account
  • Score your pronunciation and provide AI feedback on your speaking practice
  • Track your lesson progress, streaks, and vocabulary across devices
  • Process and reconcile your subscription with the App Store
  • Send transactional emails (receipts, security notices, account changes)
  • Investigate crashes and improve the app — using only diagnostic data

5. Your Rights and Account Deletion

You have full control over your S English account:

  • Delete your account directly inside the iOS app at Profile → Settings → Delete Account; deletion is confirmed via Sign in with Apple re-authentication.
  • On deletion, your account record, voice recordings, lesson progress, vocabulary, and subscription metadata are scheduled for permanent erasure within 30 days.
  • Active App Store subscriptions are not auto-cancelled by account deletion — cancel them separately in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions to stop renewals.
  • Request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or restriction of processing by emailing support@senglish.net.
  • Withdraw consent for any optional processing at any time.
  • Object to processing where we rely on legitimate interests.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you are in the EEA, UK, or California.

6. Data Protection and Retention

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures including:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for all client–server traffic
  • Access controls limiting who on our team can read user data
  • Server-side audit logs of administrative access
  • Voice recordings retained for at most 30 days, then permanently deleted

No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We work hard to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.

Summary: S English collects the minimum data needed to teach you English: your account info, your voice recordings (used only for pronunciation feedback and deleted within 30 days), your lesson progress, and subscription metadata reconciled through Apple and RevenueCat. We do not track you across other apps, do not sell your data, and let you delete your account from inside the iOS app at any time. The iOS app's privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) lists every data type and required-reason API call we make — it always matches this policy.
