How to get an IELTS Writing piece graded
- Pick Task 1 or Task 2, take a prompt from the library or enter your own — Task 1 accepts a chart image upload.
- Choose Practice mode (guidance, criteria, and sample answers visible) or Exam mode (strict countdown, like the real thing).
- For Task 2 you can write section by section: introduction, body 1, body 2, conclusion.

Which band are you aiming for?
Each band step needs something different, and knowing what you are missing matters more than writing more pieces:
- Band 5.0-5.5: focus on core grammar and actually answering what the prompt asks.
- Band 6.0-6.5: needs clear structure, ideas that connect, and a wider range of vocabulary.
- Band 7.0+: needs flexible sentence structures, context-accurate word choice, and fully developed arguments.

Is AI IELTS Writing scoring accurate?
The AI grades against IELTS's published criteria and returns an estimated band for reference while you practice. It is not an official band, it does not replace a real exam result, and S English is not affiliated with the organisations that run IELTS. Use the detailed feedback to know what to fix — that is the real value; the number is just for tracking progress.
How do Task 1 and Task 2 differ?
Task 1 asks you to describe given data: a line graph, bar chart, pie chart, table, mixed chart, map, or process. Task 2 is an opinion essay on a social topic. Task 2 weighs more in your Writing score, but Task 1 is where people lose marks needlessly by describing the data wrong.
Does the grading catch data errors in Task 1?
Yes. Data accuracy is its own error category: if you describe a trend incorrectly or misread a figure on the chart, that is flagged separately, because it hits Task Achievement directly.
Can I use my own IELTS prompts?
Yes. Prompts from a book, a class, or a mock test all work, and you can upload a chart image for Task 1.
Which Task 2 topics are covered?
